Requirements

The lifting column, which is responsible for the precise and fast positioning of the gripper, must enable agile and low-friction rotation between the storage and buffer racks. At the same time, the robot must not lose its slim design so that it can continue to move into narrow rack aisles without any problems. The bearing used must therefore have a high load capacity, yet be compact and light so as not to compromise the weight and size of the robot.

Advantages

The roller bearing solution developed offers several advantages: It consists of a ready-to-install slewing ring that enables fast and low-friction movement of the gripper unit. The integrated toothed belt gearing enables a particularly space-saving design. A highlight of the solution is the use of aluminium, which reduces the overall weight and thus creates additional payload capacity. Thanks to the wire race bearing technology, the high load capacity is maintained despite the aluminium housing. In addition, the slewing ring is anodised and sealed on both sides, making it ideal for use in a wide range of logistics environments.
