The best all-round program for flat glass processing

LiSEC ist mit seinen Gesamtlösungen zur Flachglasbearbeitung Weltmarktführer und setzt Franke Linearführungen ein

LiSEC from Austria is the world leader in flat glass processing. LiSEC found the perfect solution for their highly skilled machines by utilizing Franke’s linear guides. During operation, the machine components are exposed to an abrasive mixture of cleaning water and glass dust. Thanks to the unique Franke linear guide design, incorporating sealed rollers, corrosion-resistant housings and components, these linear guides can withstand the toughest conditions.

LiSEC's machines, software, and complete system solutions are used for the production of insulated glass and in the growing photovoltaic market. LiSEC has been using Franke linear solutions in their machines and Schraml machines since 2017. Schraml has been part of the LiSEC Group since 2016.
Moritz Geyrhofer is the Lead Buyer at LiSEC, when asked about his biggest challenge, "Clearly the availability of supplier products." His experience with Franke‘s reliability has been excellent and a significant reason why LiSEC relies on Franke.

Franke linear guides carry out important functions

Corrosion-resistant FDC-35 Franke aluminium linear guides with stainless steel raceways are used in LiSEC machines. They "fulfil essential functions for our machines," says Geyrhofer. They are used in edge processing and finishing, guide grinding or milling tools, and in numerous machine types to precisely position the processed glass sheets.

At all costs we must avoid the production line coming to a standstill, because that would mean enormous losses in no time at all.Moritz Geyrhofer, Lead Buyer at LiSEC

Everything from LiSEC: completely automated units with custom software

Edge processing is only one process that LiSEC machines can perform. Like no other company in the market, LiSEC offers efficient all-in-one solutions for flat glass processing. They can easily incorporate: Scoring and breaking glass; washing; grinding and processing edges; bending aluminium frames; filling glass panes with gas & sealing them; and finally sorting it for shipment. LiSEC‘s system are highly automated and efficient. Their in-house software developers customize the software so controls are simple with easy user interface.

To better understand the users' perspective, LiSEC operates its own insulating glass line. "This is on a scale where we do not compete with our customers," explains Moritz Geyrhofer. "Since we produce ourselves, we can better understand the requirements of our customers. And it allows us to test new developments in a realistic production environment."

LiSEC's central promise to its customers is productivity, therefore the quality of a supplier‘s products is also very important. "We have to avoid the production line coming to a standstill at all costs, because that would mean enormous losses in no time," Geyrhofer emphasises. He therefore appreciates the great quality of Franke‘s linear guides. "They have always remained stable over the years. It's no use for us if a supplier makes an effort at the beginning and then the quality drops."

Challenging conditions for the linear guides

The linear guides are exposed to washing water and glass dust. Franke’s unique linear guide design protects against corrosion, the FDC 35 model are made of stainless steel or aluminium. The glass debris is removed from the raceways with wipers during each movement so it does not accumulate on the rails or in the guides. The wheels of the guides are enclosed, which prevents dirt, dust or debree from effecting the funtion of the needle bearings. Clogging is impossible and the wheels are also lubricated for life – making them maintenance-free.

In addition to the quality of the products, Moritz Geyrhofer praises the competence and responsiveness of the Franke team. "When we contact Franke for new developments or further developments, we experience a very fast response and competent advice. Our technicians then exchange information directly with the Franke technicians. That works very well."
