Application example Research centrifuge

Requirements

For use in the research centrifuge for Mars flights, Franke linear guides are used that are specially designed for the extreme conditions and requirements of this application. The linear guides are designed in such a way that they have a particularly low total mass. This feature is crucial to minimise centrifugal forces in the centrifuge and maximise system efficiency. They are capable of bearing loads of up to 1,000 N in the Z-direction at a speed of around 2 m/s. These performance parameters guarantee reliable and precise function under the given operating conditions. The linear guide operates without lubrication. This is of crucial importance for the cleanliness and safety of the overall system, especially in the sensitive environment of the centrifuge. The design of the linear guides enables fast and smooth tracking of the cable carrier. This is important to ensure reliable data and energy transmission during operation.

These special features make Franke linear guides the ideal choice for the research centrifuge, where reliability, precision and safety under extreme conditions are essential.
