Precise, adaptable and compact

Material testing

Material testing involves revealing hidden structures, irregularities, or defects. Modern analysis methods enable the precise representation and evaluation of internal structures – layers and microstructures are measured and qualified.

Reproducible results, high precision, rigidity, and repeatability are key for designers and engineers. Robust bearings and linear guides often form the technical basis for durable, economical testing machines.

Requirements in materials testing

Precision & repeatability
Mechanical components must be designed in such a way that unforeseeable errors are ruled out. Bearings and guide systems must be capable of extremely smooth, low-friction movements and high rigidity in order to minimize hysteresis and ensure high repeat accuracy with short cycle times. The goal is long-term consistent system performance that reduces calibration effort, minimizes mechanical play, and reliably maintains once-defined measurement parameters.

Compact design & large center clearance
With the miniaturization of testing systems and the increasing degree of automation, pressure is growing on machine manufacturers to develop space-saving yet powerful solutions. In addition to small size, a corresponding center clearance is often required to enable media to be moved through a bearing.

Cleanliness & low particle emissions
In semiconductor manufacturing, medical technology, and optical measurement systems in particular, even low particle emissions can distort measurement results or impair the product being tested. Only clean environmental conditions and appropriately suitable components make it possible to maintain high-quality measurement results.

Easy installation & maintenance
Test and measurement systems often vary greatly in terms of design, measurement principle, and mechanical installation situation. All components of a measurement system must meet these requirements. Individually adaptable bearings and linear guides can be optimally integrated into existing structures and designs.

Areas of application

Franke slewing rings and  bearings are used in a wide range of testing and measuring systems, ensuring reliable results thanks to their precise, low-friction, and durable bearing technology - from sensitive electronics to large-volume industrial components.

Typical areas of application for designers and developers include:

Examples of use

Product advantages of wire roller bearings

  • Very smooth movement with minimal friction, high rigidity, and reduced hysteresis — improves repeatability and measurement stability.

  • Flexible application concepts: Storage of rotating test specimens or swiveling measuring devices for various test procedures.

  • Compact design with large center clearance — enables feedthroughs through the center of the roller bearing and space-saving machine designs.

  • Low-particle, optionally lubricant-free design for clean environments and low noise emissions.

  • Modular design for easy integration, installation, and maintenance
